Casci DesignWorks is proud to be featured in the March 2025 issue of Comstock’s magazine! In the article, owner Steve Casci shares his expertise on high-ROI home renovations and the latest trends in kitchen and bathroom design that maximize both style and value.
Kitchens & Bathrooms Lead in ROI
According to the Chelsea Journal of Light Construction, kitchen and bathroom remodels offer the highest return on investment (ROI) in Sacramento. The report confirms that curb appeal is important, but when it comes to interior renovations, the kitchen is where homeowners see the most value.
Steve Casci, who has 45+ years of experience, knows this better than anyone:
“The kitchen is the most important room—it sells your house when you put it on the market and keeps you there when designed for your needs and comfort.”
2024’s Biggest Kitchen & Bath Trends
Steve Casci shares some of the most in-demand design elements that homeowners are choosing this year:
- Color is back – Green shades and richer hues are making a comeback.
- Natural stone countertops – Quartzite and Calacatta Viola marble (honed or leathered) are trending.
- Statement tile – Tile in bold patterns and textures now extends all the way up to the ceiling.
- Mixed metals – Combining brass with brushed nickel adds depth and interest.
- Layered lighting – A mix of recessed lighting, sconces, and under-cabinet lighting creates warmth and functionality.
Where to Invest & Where to Save
Steve emphasizes long-term quality over temporary trends when it comes to major kitchen elements:
💡 Invest in:
- High-end appliances (Sub-Zero, Miele) – Built to last 20-30 years.
- Custom cabinetry – Durable materials ensure longevity.
- Quality countertops – Natural stone adds timeless value.
💡 Save on:
- Flooring and lighting – These can be updated over time.
- Décor and furniture – Avoid trends that go out of style quickly.
Steve’s advice?
“It’s better to phase in quality upgrades over time rather than compromise on design integrity.”
